The Monks Cross Travelodge project involved the creation of a brand new, purpose built 80 bed hotel, incorporating a welcoming bar and restaurant at ground-floor level. The development forms part of the wider Monks Cross Retail Park, located to the north east of York city centre, and was designed to complement the growing commercial and leisure offer of this prominent destination.

HTC Architects delivered the architectural design for the scheme, working closely with the project team to ensure a functional, efficient and contemporary hotel environment that meets the operational needs of Travelodge while responding sensitively to its busy retail park context. The building layout and form were shaped to optimise guest comfort, streamline back of house operations, and maintain a clear, active frontage onto the surrounding public realm.
