International Day of Charity

Saturday marked the International Day of Charity across the world – a day declared by the United Nations in 2012 that supports their Sustainable Development Goals and is observed annually on the 5th September. 🌍🌍

The core aim for the day is to provide a collective platform for individuals, grassroots organisations and global charities to enhance their visibility, promote events, and most importantly increase solidarity, a sense of social responsibility and public support for charity as a whole. 🫶🫶

In the spirit of the day, we are celebrating and reflecting on our own fundraising efforts as a company! 🎉🎉

As part of our Corporate Social Responsibility Policy, we have supported fundraisers of clients, suppliers and contractors over the past 30+ years and specifically donated and worked with the charity Shine for over 15 years! 💛💛

Since 2023, HTC Architects have had massive success organising an annual charity walk in order to fundraise for a different charity proposed and voted for by staff each year. 📝📝

Through these alone, we have raised close to £10,000 over the past three years for Research ALKay+ve, the The Brain Tumour Charity and the MS Society, and had a fantastic team building day out as a company! 🚶‍♀️‍➡️🚶‍♂️‍➡️🚶‍♀️‍➡️🚶‍♂️‍➡️

Our yearly Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning fundraiser equally always goes down a treat with staff; and ahead of our coffee morning on 23.09.26 we have already raised over £1000 for the event in recent years! ☕☕

Similarly, The Yorkshire Children’s Charity, The Rotary Club of Hebden Bridge, Save the Children UK and Neighbourly have all become central to HTC Architects’ yearly charity support – whether that is via our fundraising efforts or participation in UKREiiF’s STRUGGLE EVENTS (insane) cycling challenges, watching rubber ducks race down the River Calder, sporting humorous Christmas jumpers in the office, putting on our glad rags for The Yorkshires: Commercial Real Estate Awards or through wrapping presents for Lidl GB’s Christmas Toy Bank appeal – staff have directly contributed in the raising of upwards of £40,000! 💸💸

Fundraising for several charities via numerous events throughout the year has been a fantastic way to bring staff together and engage in the goal to create a more just and resilient society. 🏙️🏙️

We would also like to commend the individual fundraising staff commit in their own time and would like to recognise Adeel Bashir and Ian Catherall for their effort and contribution this year! 🤝🤝

To be a part of the International Day of Charity’s global effort build a more inclusive and sustainable world for everyone will forever continue to be part of the company culture for the team at HTC. 🧡🧡
