Yorkshire Industrial & Logistics Conference 2026

Yorkshire Industrial & Logistics Conference 2026

HTC Architects attended Place Yorkshire’s Industrial & Logistics Conference 2026 at Marriott Hotels Leeds today, with Jonathan Hornby and Vanessa Shieh joining developers, local authorities, agents, contractors and consultants to gain valuable insight into the trends shaping the future of industrial, logistics and data-led developments! 🏗️

Some of the key themes discussed included:

Sector Trends:
📈 Increased demand for power infrastructure
– Requires sufficient power capacity which remains a challenge for future developments.

📈 Increase in Integrated Automation
– Influences building design, efficiency and occupier requirements.

📈 Location, Location, Location
– The expanding same-day delivery market produces demand for proximity to towns/cities.

Design Considerations:
✅ Demand for large-scale logistics facilities
– Driven by e-commerce distribution models and interest from international occupiers.

✅ Taller industrial buildings
– Maximising storage capacity on constrained development land.

The Future:
⚠️ Emerging workforce capacity
– Training providers/colleges face challenges in accommodating demand for careers in construction and engineering.

The discussions reinforced how various factors will each play a significant role in shaping the design of the next generation of industrial/logistic/data-led developments – providing plenty of insights to feedback to the HTC Team! 💭

Thank you to Place Yorkshire for hosting an excellent event and to everyone who contributed! 👏
