This new build eco-home featured in the Grand Designs series 2015. The house is located in an area of outstanding natural beauty on an isolated plot amongst farmland on the banks of the River Rother near Rye. The accommodation includes open plan living, three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a boathouse and terraces extending the living spaces outdoors.
The house is raised up above the ground by a collection of concrete columns, allowing the flood plain below to function whilst also raising the building to provide expansive views across the marsh.
The construction of the timber cladding and the careful attention to detail allows the building to sensitively relate to its natural surroundings.
The design was praised by the Planning Authority, Building Control as well as Kevin McCloud on the current series of Grand Designs.
