Distinctive retail-led regeneration scheme

Hexham Retail Park

Retail

This distinctive retail-led regeneration scheme celebrates the industrial heritage of the site while delivering high‑quality contemporary commercial space.

Located on former railway sidings, the project centred on the careful conversion and sympathetic restoration of a listed engine shed, transforming a historic railway structure into a vibrant, functional retail destination. The design approach respected the character, materials, and form of the original building, retaining key architectural features while sensitively integrating modern elements to meet current retail standards.

Alongside the restored engine shed, three new purpose‑built retail units were constructed to complement the historic structure and create a cohesive development. The masterplan responds to the linear geometry of the old sidings, ensuring that the new buildings sit comfortably within the site’s industrial context. High‑quality materials, unified architectural detailing, and considered landscaping help create a welcoming and commercially attractive environment for both occupiers and visitors.
