HTC Architects are delivering the construction stage design for a new purpose-built self-storage facility at Jarman Way, forming part of the ongoing regeneration of Jarman Park.
The scheme comprises a high-quality, three-storey (ground plus two upper levels) building providing approximately 2,323m² (25,000 sq ft) of flexible B8 self-storage space.

Positioned on a vacant former landfill site, the development completes a key parcel of land adjacent to an approved Lidl foodstore and proposed drive-thru, helping to establish a cohesive commercial and leisure destination within an established retail park setting.

The building has been carefully designed to respond to both its context and operational requirements. The massing has been lowered relative to the adjacent Lidl development through cut-and-fill strategies, reducing its visual impact when viewed from St Albans Road.

A contemporary façade utilises a palette of metallic silver and anthracite insulated panels, complemented by brickwork and curtain wall glazing to the entrance, creating a clear and legible customer interface while breaking down the overall scale of the building.

Internally, the layout is organised to support efficient customer movement and storage operations, with a reception area, loading facilities and vertical circulation via lift and stairs to all levels.

Externally, the scheme provides dedicated customer parking, EV charging spaces, cycle provision and secure service yards, ensuring accessibility for a wide range of users.

Security and safety are integral to the design, with controlled access systems, monitored entry points and well-lit external areas supporting the operational requirements of a modern self-storage facility.
