Jonathan has over 20 years’ experience delivering projects from concept through to construction. Having joined the practice following his university studies, he has developed a deep understanding of technical design, project coordination and construction-stage delivery across a wide range of sectors.

Jonathan plays a key role in translating design intent into robust, buildable solutions, working closely with clients, consultants and contractors to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and to a high technical standard. His experience spans industrial, commercial, retail, leisure and residential developments, with a particular focus on problem‑solving, buildability and compliance. Jonathan is known for his collaborative approach, attention to detail and commitment to delivering architecture that is practical, adaptable and built to last.

Matthew Urquhart brings 30 years of construction industry experience—including 21 years post-graduate—combining deep technical expertise with a practical, problem-solving approach. He plays a pivotal role in the technical development of projects, collaborating closely with design teams, consultants, and contractors to translate complex concepts into robust, buildable solutions.

Experienced across all stages from planning through to construction, Matthew is adept at coordinating detailed design information. His methodical approach and clear communication ensure the successful delivery of high-quality buildings that strictly align with client briefs, regulatory frameworks, and construction best practices.

Helen is a Chartered RIBA Architect with a master’s degree in architecture, specialising in residential, master planning and strategic development. Her passion lies in creating homes and communities that enhance people’s everyday lives. Her work on a wide range of residential and mixed-use development projects has further strengthened her interest in strategic design. Working closely with clients, stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams, she has contributed to several large-scale residential and mixed-use masterplans across the UK for public- and private-sector clients. Helen aspires to create places that contribute positively to communities by enhancing and making effective use of existing local assets. Through biophilic design, she creates spaces that promote people’s health, happiness and wellbeing.

Helen is also a RIBA Yorkshire Housing Ambassador and Core Advisor to the housing group, advocating on housing issues with regional and government bodies to help develop a model that reflects the needs of the Yorkshire region. Her contribution includes addressing key issues, advising on the NPPF, engaging with cabinet ministers where appropriate and using the group’s network to work with local authorities to improve the quality and delivery of future housing.

Helen has further developed her passion for creating a positive built environment by dedicating part of her professional time to strengthening links between architectural education and practice. As a lecturer at local universities, she mentors students and supports the RIBA Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 pathways, as well as apprenticeship programmes. She finds it hugely rewarding to see students develop in confidence and creativity as they progress into the architectural profession.

Helen lives in Denby Dale with her husband, four children and two rescue dogs, and enjoys the energy of family life.

Laura Sherratt supports the delivery of projects across the practice’s diverse portfolio. She contributes to the design and development of schemes, working collaboratively with colleagues, consultants and clients to help deliver well‑considered architectural solutions.

Laura brings a thoughtful and organised approach to her work, assisting in the coordination of design information and supporting projects through key stages of delivery. She values collaboration, clear communication and attention to detail, contributing to HTC Architects’ commitment to high‑quality, people‑focused design.

Matthew contributes to the delivery of projects across the practice’s varied portfolio. He supports the design and technical development of schemes, working collaboratively with colleagues, consultants and clients to help translate ideas into well‑resolved architectural solutions.

Ian Catherall is a chartered architect with more than 20 years' post-qualification experience delivering complex projects across the commercial, retail, industrial, healthcare, education and residential sectors.

He has extensive experience leading projects through all RIBA work stages, providing strategic design, technical delivery, and client advisory services for a diverse range of developers, retailers, businesses, and public-sector organisations across the UK.

Known for his approachable style and practical problem-solving skills, Ian builds strong client relationships and guides projects from initial concept through to completion. He combines technical expertise with a pragmatic, client-focused approach.

Alongside his professional work, Ian has contributed to architectural education as a visiting practitioner and RIBA Part 3 Examiner at the University of Huddersfield.

Migena is an ARB-registered architect working across HTC Architects’ commercial, retail and industrial projects. Her experience spans early design through to delivery, with a focus on considered architectural responses that balance design quality, functionality and practical delivery requirements.

She actively drives projects forward, contributing to design development, coordination and decision-making across the team. Her collaborative, pragmatic approach builds strong client and consultant relationships and creates a positive environment for developing ideas and resolving challenges.
