#TBT – What is the future high street? – Project Office – Kirkgate Market
For today’s #ThrowbackThursday, we are looking back to last month, when some of the team at HTC Architects (all graduates of Leeds School of Arts, Leeds Beckett University Architecture courses) headed down to support and explore the Future High Street consultation led by Leeds School of Architecture’s in-house practice – Project Office Leeds.
Work from Archival Matter- the 2025 Leeds School of Architecture showcase that celebrated the history of the school – was displayed throughout the exhibition, and was great to look around!
Jessica-Joy Consterdine, Nadia Luhar, George Sands and Rebecca Tomkins had a great time each contemplating the proposition of what they personally would want to see in the future of Leeds City Centre and submitted their own ideas to the research.
The results will be provided to Leeds City Council, aiding a new policy being put in place for the city’s high street!
It was wonderful to see such a good turn out and great to catch up with former tutor of theirs, Dr Craig Stott!
Getting to read local memories, experiences and opinions of Leeds was a insightful way to get back in touch with the city and view it’s architecture and people from new perspectives!
As a practice with an office right in Leeds City Centre, we are looking forward to seeing the results of the policy!
