International Men’s Day
Today at HTC Architects we’re observing International Mens Day UK 2025! This year’s overarching theme is Celebrating Men and Boys, with the aim to highlight the positive value men bring to the world, their families and their communities. 💕💕
The three core themes for International Men’s Day in the UK are:
🔵 Making a positive difference to the wellbeing and lives of men and boys
🔵 Raising awareness and funds for charities supporting men and boys’ wellbeing
🔵 Promoting a positive conversation about men, manhood and masculinity
Celebrating Men and Boys also means platforming positive role models and raising awareness of men’s well-being. Men face a series of specific health challenges that must be addressed to have our communities’ function at their fullest potential.
Current research unfortunately tells us that:
🔹 – Men have a suicide rate 3 times higher than women
🔹 – 1 in 3 men have been the victims of domestic violence
🔹 – Men on average die 4-5 years before women
🔹 – Men are nearly twice as likely to suffer from lung cancer than women
🔹 – Men are nearly twice as likely to suffer from heart disease than women
Therefore, we’re using today to encourage men to take charge of their health and seek help from their GP if they have symptoms that are troubling them – whilst emphasising how early detection can lead to better health outcomes and fewer complications for them and their familes.💙💙
Alongside inspiring conversations around physical health, discussing men’s mental health is critical in today’s society and encouraging men to teach the boys in their lives the postive values, character and responsibilities of masculinity, is essential to raising the next generation of well-adjusted boys. 🧍♂️🧍♂️🧍♂️🧍♂️
It is only when we all, both men and women, lead by example – through the embracing of all men (regardless of race, gender identity, culture or sexuality) and the challenging of any harmful, stereotypical views of masculinity, will then create a fair and safe society that allows everyone the opportunity to prosper! 💙💙
