Throwback Thursday from our London Office – Anton’s Hill House

Tim Godsmark from our HTC Architects London Office began working on this distinguished Grade B listed country house in Leitholme, Scotland originally designed by the noted architect William Burns. 🏛️🏛️

HTC Architects acted as architects for the conservation, refurbishment and partial reconstruction of this nineteenth century country house situated in the Scottish Borders- a significant portion of which (particularly one of its wings) appeared to have remained untouched and unused since the 1930s. 🔨🔨

Due to substantial deterioration of the fabric of the building resulting from the unmaintained area, a careful investigation of the original building techniques and materials was conducted and the design adapted to produce a more appropriate proposal to the requirements of the project.🏗️🏗️

The project required a sensitive balance of heritage preservation, structural interventions and modernisation to maintain the building’s charm and character, whilst also fulfilling the requirements for safety and comfort to ensure the longevity of the home for the client! 👏👏

It’s great to look back at some of our previous projects and we look forward to sharing more of these soon! 📸📸
